SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

February 2008
What are You Practicing ?
It is February and we are on our way to either meeting those goals we set for the new year or resolving to more of the same. If you think about the handy new GPS (Global Positioning System) that is in many of the new cars. The driver tells it where it wants to go and some of the GPS systems ask if the driver wants to take the scenic route or the fastest route. The system then calculates the point of destination, the distance and possible delays after a quick assessment of the facts a drive course is then charted.
What do you want to program into your GPS? Do you want to take the scenic route or the fastest route? Have you calculated the possible delays such as, tasks or responsibilities that may be dependent upon others? Will you recognize the need to "re-calculate" along the way? A re-calculation is the purposeful and intentional halting of any further action, an evaluation of the situation, a return to the original program and then re-plotting of a new path either scenic or fast to get to your destination.
KUDOS
A special recognition to Living Hope International Ministries located in Orlando, Florida. The ministry founded over 20 years ago helps hurting women by providing substance abuse education and recovery support and short term housing. Thanks to this wonderful program and their toy donation, we were able to provide toys and gifts to nine families for Christmas.
Community Partnerships
Journeys End Counseling has recently partnered with Living Hope International Ministries to expand counseling and recovery support services.
Legacy Parenting
Parenting from a "legacy" prospective means that interactions, communication and expectations for your children are based upon your vision for their future. In creating a legacy for your family and your children you are encouraged to see beyond today or even for the moment.
Ask yourself questions such as, " How can I help my child learn how to make good choices?" What is my childs' sense of self and value based upon or grounded into? Does my child have a role (positive) in our family? If that role were not filled would we notice? When you look way down the road to your children's children, how will they remember you?
